Who are Long Island’s top medical specialists?

Jonathan B. Weinstein, DO, FACC, North Suffolk Cardiology

After joining North Suffolk Cardiology in 2008, Dr. Weinstein became the first community interventional cardiologist in Suffolk County to perform transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). TAVR is an entirely catheter-based procedure in which a diseased heart aortic valve is replaced without requiring open-heart surgery. Dr. Weinstein is an integral part of the team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons performing the procedure at Stony Brook University Hospital. He is certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology. He performs the full range of invasive cardiac and peripheral arterial diagnostic tests as well as coronary and peripheral cardiovascular interventions.

“There is no greater reward than the trust placed in me by the patients of North Suffolk Cardiology to allow me to participate in their care,” Dr. Weinstein said.

Dr. Weinstein completed his undergraduate training at the University of Michigan in 1995 before attending the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. He completed his residency in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital, where he was selected to serve as Chief Resident Physician. Dr. Weinstein completed his postgraduate training in cardiovascular disease at the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, where he was selected as a Chief Cardiology Fellow and where he also completed a subspecialty fellowship in Interventional Cardiology.

He maintains privileges at Stony Brook University Hospital, Mather Hospital and St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown, North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. 45 Search Path #108, East Setauket, 631-941-2000, northsuffolkcardiology.com
