Know 6 types of headaches, their causes and how to treat them

As modern life becomes more and more stressful with everyone trying to multi-task and deal with all sorts of stressors, it often leads to headache issues. Headache is one of the most common problems with nearly 50% of the adult population experiencing it at least once a year. We have all dealt with headaches at one time or another, but not all of us know that headaches come in different types and should be treated according to their type. Let’s take a look at six different types of headaches and their remedies.

Headaches can be debilitating because their repeated occurrence compromises their daily tasks. It becomes nearly impossible for headache sufferers to concentrate on their work or be productive in any way. It also affects their personal life as they cannot spend time with their family or go out with them. Therefore, it is important that headaches are not taken lightly and are well treated in time.

Tangela Fuqua, a certified and licensed nurse anesthetist, shared an Instagram reel where she talks about different types of headaches and ways to treat them.

Here are 6 different types of headaches and ways to treat them:

1. Forehead

If your headache persists in the forehead area, it’s a sign of lack of sleep. In this type of headache, you feel a shooting pain in the forehead. To treat this type of headache, you just need to get some sleep. You should sleep at least 6-8 hours a day.

2. Top of the head

If you feel pain at the top of your head and it feels like someone is pounding your head, it is due to lack of food or dehydration in your body. If you have this kind of headache, the first thing to do is get yourself something to eat and drink.

3. The back of the head

Sometimes the headache develops in the back of your head, ie the area above your neck. If you feel pain in this area, it’s a sign that you’re under too much stress. You need to relax and get rid of stress. Meditating, reducing the noise around you, lying down, or practicing deep breathing exercises will help you relax.

4. Face

Pain between the eyebrows, around the nose and eyes is the result of an allergy or sinus. This is called a sinus headache and to deal with it you can take medication, exercise or take a hot shower.

5. Tight headband

If you feel like there’s a tight rubber band around your forehead, you have a tension headache. To treat this type of headache, you need to reduce your screen time. You can continue to take breaks away from the screen, or you can use blue-ray blocking glasses. Taking a hot shower will also help.

6. Pain around one eye

If you feel excruciating pain just around one of your eyes, then you have a cluster headache. see a doctor. Your eyes might tear and you might even notice redness in your eyes. For this type of headache, you should immediately stop looking at any type of screen and consult your doctor.
