Their experts and survey participants rated quality of care, performance data and peer recommendations by compared to competition in the state for outpatient surgery centers. They also looked at how well the facilities were responding to the threat of COVID-19.

The research project analyzed more than 4,300 day surgery centers in 25 states. The top 400 outpatient surgery centers were identified, with varying numbers of ASCs awarded by state: California, with 80, had the most, while Wisconsin is represented with 8 outpatient surgery centers.

“We are delighted to be alongside so many prestigious ambulatory centers across the country,” Dr. Douglas Edwards said in a press release. “We continue to provide exceptional community care with the region’s only day surgery center dedicated to the treatment of ophthalmic conditions. ”

The Wisconsin Eye Clinic began in the early 1960s as a small eye care practice in downtown Wausau, founded by brothers Dr Gordon Backer and Dr Bill Backer. Over the past 60 years, the Ophthalmological Clinic has experienced sustained growth, notably employing nearly 200 employees at its seven sites.
