Emirates News Agency – ERC implements 8th phase of campaign against eye diseases in Morocco

RABAT, 6th June, 2022 (WAM) — The Emirates Red Crescent Society (ERC) has implemented the eighth phase of its campaign against eye diseases in Morocco, as directed by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the Union General of Women (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Maternity and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Honorary President of the ERC.

The campaign aims to provide health services to thousands of patients in Moroccan villages and remote areas.

An ERC delegation currently visiting Morocco, led by Dr Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, ERC Secretary General, witnessed the implementation of a series of humanitarian missions and witnessed the launch of the phase eight of the campaign.

The campaign, which has benefited 27,000 people in many parts of Morocco, includes cataract surgeries, lens implantation using advanced surgical techniques and early medical detection of glaucoma, as well as the provision of medicines and glasses needed by the beneficiaries.

Dr Al Falahi said the campaign is taking place within the framework of Sheikha Fatima’s initiatives to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable people and highlights its growing role in meeting the humanitarian, health and development needs of communities in need.

He also affirmed that the campaign aligns with the aspirations of the UAE leadership and the country’s strategy to ensure humanitarian sustainability.

The ERC has prioritized the campaign and aims to broaden the range of its beneficiaries in Morocco, Dr Al Falahi added, thanking ERC partners in Morocco, including the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, the the country’s Ministry of Health and the Moroccan Medical Association for Solidarity (AMMS).
