When you expose your eyes to extreme temperatures, you tend to dry them out. Too hot or too cold weather can cause moisture to evaporate from your eyes and dry them out.

New Delhi: Dry eye is a condition in which your eyes cannot produce enough tears, which eventually makes them dry. However, this condition could be acute as well as chronic. If you have chronic dry eyes, chances are you have itchy, watery eyes. Along with this you may also have vision problem, sometimes things may get blurry for you.

There is no permanent fix for dry eye, but you can take preventative measures. Your doctor is likely to prescribe eye drops that will prevent your eyes from drying out. There could also be other conditions that can make the situation worse for you. Here, take a look at these conditions;

  1. Air conditioner or a fan: Any form of direct air blowing into your eyes can dry them out. This jet of air can come from the air conditioner or from a fan. Therefore, avoid blowing air directly into your eyes.
  2. Hair dryer : This is another device that could make your condition worse. The hot air from the dryer can dry out your eyes and draw moisture out of your eyes, making them dry.
  3. Extreme temperatures: When you expose your eyes to extreme temperatures, you tend to dry them out. Too hot or too cold weather can cause moisture to evaporate from your eyes and dry them out.
  4. computers, laptops and mobile phones: Another major cause of dry eye. When you use such devices, you tend to blink less and this can dry out your eyes. Therefore, it is important that you blink often.
  5. Smoking: This is another reason for dry eyes. The smoke can be an irritant to your eyes, making your eyes dry.
